Things I'm currently trying to figure out

I remember a story about Richard Feynman. He had twelve problems he’d carry with him at any given time; open questions, puzzles he was mulling over. If this is a myth, don’t correct me—I think it’s charming.

In that spirit, I try to keep a short list of problems on my mind, and it seems useful to make those public.

  1. What are the contemporary obstacles to feelings of connectedness?
  2. At which point am I getting diminishing returns by focusing on control over my technology stack?
  3. Should the MLB implement a salary cap?
  4. What is truly the best way to get around in Los Angeles?
  5. What should one be eating for breakfast?
  6. The public institutions of Los Angeles don’t appear well equipped to address the issue of homelessness. How do we increase civic institutional capacity? Or must we introduce wholly new institutions more adept at mass change? I have a hard time accepting that so many people are simply meant to sleep outside, should they want otherwise.
  7. What do we lose in a poem translated from one language to another?

I ask this with complete sincerity, and welcome responses.
